Kiev or Kyiv is the capital and largest city in Ukraine with a population of 2847200 residents according to official figures and up to 5 million according to unofficial probably closer to the truth somewhere in between nevertheless Kiev at least 8th city in Europe by population, bypassing cities such as Rome and Paris. Kiev is located in the North-Central part of the country on the Dnieper river. Kiev is mother of Russian cities, the birthplace of such a state as Kievan Rus on the basis of which appeared in Russia and Belarus. Kiev is the largest in Eastern Europe, industrial, transport and cultural center with a large number of universities, historical monuments and museums.
